What I'm Up To Now!

Currently, I am working as an intern through Chicago Botanic Garden's Conservation Land Management (CLM) program. I am stationed in Sierra National Forest.

As a CLM intern on the Sierra National Forest, I spend approximately half of my time with native plant materials--surveying and scouting populations, assessing their health and seed viability, and collecting their seeds for banking and restoration efforts! The remainder of my time is dedicated to the Forest's botany projects; this includes surveying for rare, endangered, or non-native plants, collaborating with other departments to assess and address ecosystem health, controlling populations of non-natives, and constructing materials for public outreach.

In doing my job, I've been incredibly lucky to backpack and camp to botanize in gorgeous areas, to learn from experts from a range of fields, and to do tangible and meaningful work! Further, through these experiences, I have gained experience with GIS, plant identification, project and hitch planning, and science communication!

You can read more about my experience on the CLM blog!
